In this topic, we are going to look at engaging your followers and keeping them as followers.
It's great getting lots of followers but if you're not sending out messages that keep them interested, they will soon unfollow you. So how do you keep them engaged in what you're tweeting about.
The first step is to look at what other people are tweeting about and then try think of something different but not necessarily unrelated. That sounds difficult but it's where you will need to apply a bit of imagination.
Here's an example: usually Justin Bieber is a trending topic and most certainly there are a lot of Justin Bieber fans on Twitter. But with that many fans, unless you can tweet something unique about the squeaky popster, your tweet will get lost amongst the millions of Justin Bieber tweets. But what about his family? Justin Bieber's mother is almost a celebrity in her own right and tweets about her will be closely read and are more likely to stand out in the sea of Bieber tweets.
So how do you go about putting out tweets about your chosen subject? There are two ways:-
1. Do It Manually - this will involve you trawling the internet and news channels for tweetworthy items and then posting a tweet about them. Depending on how quickly you research, this can take anywhere from half an hour each time to a few hours each time. Doing it manually will give you control over what you tweet but will take a considerable amount of time to do.
2. Automate It - this is by far the easiest method in the long run. To automate the tweeting process, you need to sign up to Visibli - you can do that by clicking here. (At one time, when Visibli was called Assetize, you got paid for using this service but they no longer pay unfortunately).
Once you have signed up to Visibli, hovver your mouse over Tools and then select "RSS To Twitter". Click on "Add Twitter Account" and then enter your Twitter username and password in the box that follows (it is safe to do so because Visibli use Twitter's oAuth system).
Next, open a new tab or window and go to Google. Search for "ABCDEF RSS feeds" where ABCDEF is the subject you want to tweet about (Justin Bieber's mother for example). You will then be given the search results for these RSS feeds - open one and copy the RSS feed link which usually ends in .xml
If you wish, you can post three feeds on the same subject or alternatively you can enter RSS feeds for three different subjects. I recommend doing the latter because it broadens the appeal of your tweets and engages more users across a variety of topics.
Once you have entered three feed URLs, click on Save and then you can log out. From now on, your Twitter stream will be fed with automatic tweets about the subject or subjects that you have told Visibli to tweet about.
You never need to touch Visibli again unless you decide you want to change the subjects that you are tweeting about or change the feeds on the subjects you are currently tweeting about.
That's it! This is the last lesson in the series on making money using Twitter - you now have the knowledge and the tools to make your Twitter stream engaging and profitable.
It is important, as a footnote, to emphasise that this is a long term project for you. You are not going to get rich overnight and, unless you are a celebrity, you aren't likely to get rich but you can make a considerable additional income which will help fill up your Paypal account.
