Lesson 2

Introduction

This second lesson is where you begin to make money using Twitter.

By now, you should have a Twitter account and you should have a sizeable number of followers. You should also be keeping your following/follower ratio to 1:1.5 by unfollowing some people. You need to continue to do this throughout your Twitter money making project so you maintain value in your Twitter account.

At this stage, it is worth checking the nominal value of your Twitter account by clicking here and then entering your Twitter username. This is just a nominal value and it does not mean that you can go and sell your Twitter account (which is against Twitter's TOS). However, it will give you a basis for comparison as time goes on.

Right, down to the nitty gritty now of actually starting to make money.

Monetising Your Twitter Account

You have probably seen a box on our main page entitled "Sponsored Likes". You are going to use the same program to start making money. Please pay attention to the rest of this so you can maximise your earnings from this program rather than just posting ads willy nilly!

To start, ensure that you have your Twitter account open and that you are signed in on another tab or window. Once you are there, click here to go to a program entitled MyLikes

Next, click on the "Register with Twitter" button and then click Allow to let MyLikes get your Twitter account details (do not use the Facebook or YouTube buttons - we will monetise those at a later date!). Then complete all of the signup details required but try to keep your MyLikes username the same as your Twitter username for ease of use.

Once you have signed up and you are logged into MyLikes (you should automatically go to your Homepage on completion of signup), take a look at the page. You should see "Top Campaigns For You" and below that a list of current campaigns.

You will also see that each campaign has a max pay per click - this is the maximum that the advertiser will pay per click on the tweets sent for their campaign but this may not be what you will receive. To see what you will receive per click, look at the right hand side where you will see a balance of $0.00 and below that a "Pay Per Click" amount. The PPC amount is the maximum you will be paid per click for the time being. As your Twitter account gains value, this will increase.

OK, you are eager to make money and don't want to know the mechanics of how MyLikes works but it is important to know the basics. Let's get to making some money now!

Look under the "Current Campaigns". For the first one, right click on the title and then open it in a new tab or window. DON'T BE TEMPTED TO TWEET THIS STRAIGHT AWAY.

On the new tab or window, where the advertisement requirements have appeared, take a look at where it says "The advertiser will pay you $x.xx per click". Immediately below that, see if it says "Advertiser will pay only for clicks from the United States" - if it does, then close the tab or window and then go to the next advertiser.

When you get to one that does NOT say that the advertiser will only pay for clicks from the United States, then follow the instructions to Tweet the message to your followers. You can time the message if you wish but this takes some practice depending on when your followers are most likely to be online so you are best off leaving it at "Post Now". Uncheck the post to Facebook box - you don't want to start doing this just yet!

Leave the box that says "Keep posting until..." checked so that the message continues to post, and you continue to earn, until the advertiser's budget runs out of money.

When you're ready, hit the "Save Message" button and your "Like" will be posted to your Twitter account.

The next to do is then sit back and wait for your followers to click on your Tweet. For each click on the Tweet from your followers, you will receive the amount per click from MyLikes!

You can log in to MyLikes and post a new advertisement every day but remember to post those that do not say "United States" only. The reason for this is that where the advertiser hasn't limited it to paying for US clicks only, you get paid for EVERY click regardless of where your followers come from. If you post ones that pay for US clicks only then you are limiting your revenue.

It is important to note that the advertisements that pay the highest per click are not always the best ones to post. If they only pay for US clicks and most of your followers are from South America then it is of no benefit to you to have ten clicks at 21 cents per click when you could have five hundreds clicks at 7 cents.

Once you are familiar with MyLikes you can play about with it and start posting to your Facebook account too. In addition, if you have a website, you can post the widget from MyLikes on there and if you have a group here on MatesGate you can also put the widget on that (contact me for info on how to do this).

MyLikes pays out automatically every Friday into your Paypal account if you have a balance of $2 or more. If your balance is less than that then it will roll over to the next week.

Some important things to note:

1. NEVER click on your own MyLikes tweet - they seem to note the IP address and who is logged in and will not count the click. If you do it more than a few times, they will cancel your account and you will forfeit your earnings.
2. You can ask your friends and family to click on the posts to boost your revenue but don't ask them to click on every one of them. If the MyLikes systems sees a suspicious pattern it will cancel your account and you will forfeit you earning.
3. NEVER explicitly ask anyone on Twitter to click on your MyLikes links - if the MyLikes system or staff pick this up your account will be cancelled and... well you know what will happen!
4. Make sure you log in to MyLikes every day to take any available opportunities - they will be different to each user based on the interests you selected at sign-up

Potential Earnings

In the beginning, you will probably only have a few hundred followers and therefore may only get a few clicks a week. For the first few months, don't be surprised if you only something along the lines of $0.50 to $1.00 a week.

However, once you get to having over 1,000 followers you should see your earnings dramatically rise. At this point, if you're following my instructions, you should be earning a minimum of $10 a week or $40 a month with MyLikes.

As you keep going and get to about a year down the line, you should easily be making $50 per week from MyLikes.

At some point, it will become second nature to you to do this and you can create multiple Twitter accounts with MyLikes accounts to go with them. I wouldn't advise doing more than ten because it can become confusing but after a while if you have ten accounts, with lots of followers and you follow my instructions, then you could potentially make $500 a week from MyLikes alone.
