Lesson 5

In this lesson, we are going to look at other Twitter money making programs that you should avoid and why you should avoid them.

You will undoutebdly come across a number of programs that claim that they will make money for you using Twitter. I have tested a lot of them and the only two that really work are MyLikes and SponsoredTweets. There are a number of other programs out there and we will take a look at these.

RevTwt

RevTwt claims to be the largest advertising network on Twitter however I very much doubt that there is any justification to this claim. RevTwt don't pay very much per click and lots of the advertisements, despite their TOS, contain links to malware. When I used RevTwt for a short period, I was constantly receiving warnings from Twitter related to posts by RevTwt and one account was suspended because RevTwt posted more links to it than Twitter allowed.

Magpie

Although Magpie are a very ethical company, the time it will take for you to reach their cashout of 50 Euros is so long that you are likely to have retired and forgotten all about them.

In addition, Magpie won't allow for any sort of automation of your account such as posting via RSS feeds. They also cancel accounts on a regular basis for tweeting adverts from other networks such as MyLikes or SponsoredTweets because they consider these to be automated messages.

Ad.ly

At one time Ad.ly were ok. They didn't pay a fortune but you got some tweets and could make something like $10 a month. However, they have recently gone down the road of celebrity only accounts and you now need a minimum of 50,000 followers and a verified Twitter account to work with them.

Twittad

These guys claim to be "Twittad is the largest and most effective form of sponsored advertising on Twitter" however they may want to consider changing the word "most" for "least". Even verified celebrity Twitter accounts have a hard time getting advertisements to tweet from these guys and signing up to them is a complete waste of time.

Adcause

Adcause is a great idea because you can choose to make money for yourself or donate your earnings to a worthy cause. It is let down by the fact that very few advertisers use it and you will be lucky to make even $1. It has been running for some time but is badly marketed so nobody knows anything about it.

These are the main sources of Twitter advertising that pays tweeters to tweet ads. There may be others however if you come across them you can either give them a try or post a link to them here and I will check them out for you. I have plenty of "spare" Twitter accounts so it doesn't matter if they banned for testing something out - it's better that one of my spare accounts gets banned than yours!

In next week's lesson, we are going to look at a way of retaining followers by automatically tweeting interesting links that may be of use to them.
